For Portfolio 2 and Full-Stack Development we had to choose between several challenge statements of which we would then form our teams and solutions upon. Of which there are six which I deliberated upon.
1. Smart Mobility
2. Smart Campus Solutions
3. Smart City for the Elderly
4. Saving Lives in a Flu Pandemic
5. Healthy Living
6. Innovative Solutions for Social Interactions
Since I had no particular theme I was interested in before-hand I decided the best way to do it was to weigh my ideas and options before choosing between them. For Innovative Solutions for Social Interactions I had come up with an idea of a collective calendar for easy scheduling of outings within friends. However although I felt the idea was a decent one, I decided to settle for Saving Lives in a Flu Pandemic because it was sponsored by SAP. The additional information was that the challenge would include using SAP's Cloud Platform. I felt that it was an interesting challenge to take up hence my decision.
Team Forming
So upon arriving at the classroom we were then set to form our teams. However the way we formed it was rather unconventionally. We had posted solutions to the problem and the ones with the most upvotes had become the leader, the remaining people then put their skills into a card before the leaders chose from the anonymous cards.
I had ended up being chosen by Adwin along with Benjamin, Janine and Gi Kei. I was pleasantly surprised as I knew them and were comfortable with them. We then started our plans and also stated what our roles could be. For myself I knew that most of the work I would do is back-end programming as I am not a person that's aesthetically inclined. We had started off with ideation and from here we came out with a few ideas based on problems we had researched during a pandemic. On the issue of misinformation, our application could show users the symptoms and information on diseases or flus during a pandemic so that no false diagnosis would occur. We deliberated a few more ideas but decided not to overwhelm ourselves. We also decided that a Web Application using ASP.NET would fit well. This is because we were familiar with ASP.NET and web applications are more versatile and allow us to expand on our idea even further.
