Turns out SAP is supporting this challenge which made things more interesting as there is an addition of business requirements that kind of simulates how real world projects will work. Which I feel is a necessary experience. As in real world, there can be other companies that funds the project which in return the companies can expect your project to utilize their services such as software or even hardware to implement our solution

The briefing was quite insightful as it allowed me to open my eyes to find out that there are even more perspectives that I previously overlooked. They were even nice enough to give a set of questions that can guide us in our solution planning.

Government / Pharmaceutical Company Perspective

Tracking delivery of vaccines - both to the distribution points and to the citizens

  • Delivery now does not require skilled medical personnel and can use civilian distribution means - this can lead to vaccine delivery co-opted by armed gangs, & vaccines stolen for use or sales at high prices

Interpreting messages sent through from the public and medical personnel

  • Not enough personnel to evaluate messages to see if there are evolving issues or disease hot-spots

Location of medical personnel

  • Government & Pharma Company needs to track the team through the chaos

Public Perspective

Public needs to be able to track progress of delivery and know where and when the vaccines are available

Need to support civilians with diagnosis services

Needs to be automated

Example of Flu Pandemic given: Black Death

Bill Gates think that a flu epidemic is incoming

He replicated how a flu pandemic could occur in a modern day scenario

  • Spread much widely, cause of ease of transportation

Black Death can happen, but at a much larger scale

  • How do citizens know that they have gotten the flu which require the vaccine

Symptoms has to exhibited in order to show that they have gotten the flu

There is a need for knowledge about the flu itself and it's symptoms

  • How can medical personnel distribute the vaccine?

They must be able to identify the citizens that has the flu and update status

  • How can citizens know when will they be able to get the vaccine?

Citizens will have to notify and make an appointment to get the vaccine

  • How to ensure all the affected citizens have received the vaccine?

All afflicted citizens that have been identified should be registered when receiving the vaccine, to update the status

My thoughts and Ideas

What other challenges do they face?

Think from the government and public perspective, but are there any other perspectives that I can look at the issue?

Internet is not always readily available in certain locations

SMS would be a better alternative

  • For spreading of information

  • Registration of Phone Number for emergency notice

Knowledge

  • What to do when someone at your home gets a flu

  • What to do when a flu pandemic occurs at your area
