Brief Overview of some of the technologies provided by SAP by Ben

  • Analytics - Streaming Analytics

  • Data Management - Big Data Services

  • Developer Experience - SAP Web IDE

  • Document Management(?) - Document Service

  • Globalization - SAP Translation Hub

  • Integration(?) - Smart Data Integration

  • Internet of Things(?) - Internet of Things, Remote Data Sync, SAP IoT Application Enablement

  • Machine Learning(?) - SAP Leonardo ML Foundation

  • Master Data - Data Quality Services

  • Mobile - Mobile DevOps

  • Output Management - SAP Forms By Adobe

  • User Experience - SAP Build, UI Theme Designer

  • User Management(?) - Identity Authentication, Identity Provisioning

So looking at this list, there is a lot of technologies that they provide. According to SAP, we are expected to utilize SAP Hana and its Internet of Things feature. However, we were not guided exactly on how to do it, therefore there is a need for further research. But we were given some resources by our teacher.

Some of the resources are actual courses which, I do not have the time to go through due to the limitation of time.

For today, I did a brief look through of SAP Cloud Platform Internet of Things

  • SAP IoT solutions deliver tangible business outcomes by creating live insights from connected things to optimize processes and to enable new business models

  • SAP is a full solution stack IoT provider

  • SAP Cloud Platform IoT, with device management and edge capabilities, to Build, Extend and Integrate.

  • IoT applications for logistics, manufacturing and asset management (incl. predictive maintenance)

  • Including integration with SAP Line of Business Applications

All enabled by a collection of IoT application services and reuse components that dramatically reduce the time it takes to modify, deploy and build completely new IoT solutions.

What their technology is capable of is

  • Lifecycle management at scale for IoT devices from onboarding to decommissioning

  • Securely connect to remote devices over a broad variety of IoT protocols

  • Collect and process sensor data at scale already the edge or in the cloud and store it on SAP Cloud Platform for use by other applications

  • Easily develop new IoT Applications and Services by consuming open standards based technology and APIs offered by SAP Cloud Platform.

How it benefits us

  • Enablement to develop, customize & operate IoT business applications

  • Scalable ingestion of IoT data and broad device connectivity

  • Large scale device management
